Tea Party - Part I

This weekend we hosted a tea party for some our friends. We started doing tea parties when we found an adorable tea set at Goodwill for super cheap. If you’re interested in having some nice dishes for entertaining, but don’t want to spend $50-$100/place setting, I’d highly recommend Goodwill - you might need to wait a few weeks to find a good set, but something good usually comes along.

If you like having friends over for dinner, tea parties are actually a relatively easy event to host. I usually make scones (often from one of Trader Joe’s mixes, which take about 18 minutes from start to scone and 15 of those are baking). I also make little cucumber and egg & cress sandwiches with the crusts cut off. To make things a little healthier, I usually serve a really yummy kale salad (recipe coming soon!). If we’re having a bigger group, I’ll make a quiche the night ahead (I like Joy of Cooking’s tomato and goat cheese quiche) and sometimes I’ll do veggie pigs in a blanket with Morning Star links and crescent rolls. With the exception of the quiche, all of these things are really easy to throw together and you can get guests to help you do things like assemble sandwiches. While I’m cooking, Elliott does a great job decorating!
